The Auditor-General for Local Governments, Cross River State, Mr. Bassey Abam Eko, has commended Governor Bassey Otu for sponsoring twelve auditors to the just-concluded 31st Annual National Conference of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) held in Abuja.
Eko expressed delight over the gesture when the newly elected State leadership of ANAN paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the New Secretariat, Calabar, on Wednesday. He said the training would positively impact the auditors' daily performance in their respective beats.
He attributed the Governor's gesture to his continued commitment to capacity building, aimed at producing well-informed auditors capable of handling financial accountability issues and preventing leakages in the State.
While urging the beneficiaries to reciprocate the Governor's kind gesture by putting in their best in service to the State, he congratulated the new ANAN leadership and urged them to see his office as a partner in progress.
Earlier, the newly elected State Chairman of ANAN, Cross River State Chapter, Lady Jacquelin Akpanke, said they were in the office to introduce the newly elected executive members and to familiarise themselves with the Auditor-General for Local Governments for enhanced partnership and collaboration.
Other members of the executive include Elder Ayitu Ayitu as Secretary, Mr. Sunday Richard as Vice Chairman, Mr. Sunny Okoh as Assistant Secretary, Mrs. Christiana Okon as Treasurer, Mr. Roland Abuo as Financial Secretary, and Mr. Odey Odey as Ex-Officio.
The courtesy visit was attended by Directors in the Office of the Auditor-General, including Mr. Atem Thomas Nche, Director of Administration.
