Anti Illegal Mining Taskforce Clampdown On Miners In Akamkpa

The Cross River State Taskforce on Illegal Mining, led by Prince Paul Effiong, has apprehended several individuals participating in unlawful and illegal limestone mining activities in Akamkpa Local Government Area.

The arrests followed a series of proactive raids by the Taskforce in response to growing reports of illegal mining in the area.

Despite previous warnings, such activities have continued to increase, prompting the taskforce to act decisively.

According to the Chairman, "we will not allow illegal mining in Cross River State. Our responsibility is to safeguard the state's resources and ensure that all mining activities comply with legal standards."

The taskforce is committed to ongoing efforts, apprehending anyone involved in illegal mining. Prince Effiong cautioned that attempts to intimidate or impede the taskforce's operations will not be tolerated.

"We encourage all miners to operate legally," Prince Effiong added. "We are dedicated to promoting responsible mining practices that will benefit both the state and its residents."

The taskforce has also urged the public to report any incidents of illegal mining to the relevant authorities.
