Leaders and Elders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Biase/Akamkpa Federal Constituency have endorsed Governor Bassey Edet Otu for a second term, citing his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education and security.
The endorsement was announced during a meeting with APC women in Biase Chapter held recently in Calabar.
The APC House of Representatives Candidate for Biase/Akamkpa, Hon. Ngim Okpo, and the member representing Biase in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Francis Ogban, jointly declared their support for the Governor’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.
In his address, Hon. Okpo welcomed the women to the event and said the Otu administration had demonstrated commitment to improving peace and security within the state and its border communities, as well as in education and general infrastructure.
According to him, these achievements show that Senator Bassey Otu will continue to deliver on his promises to the people of Cross River State if returned to office.
He urged the women to obtain their voter cards and not be intimidated during the forthcoming elections, while assuring that women empowerment would remain a priority of the administration.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Helen Isamoh, said she supports both Senator Bassey Otu and Hon. Ngim Okpo based on their track record of achievements in the State.
She urged the women to position themselves for relevance and to ensure that eligible members of their households vote for Governor Bassey Edet Otu and Hon. Ngim Okpo in the 2027 general elections.
In his remarks, Hon. Francis Ogban thanked the women for identifying with the movement. He said their mission is to secure victory for Governor Bassey Edet Otu, Hon. Ngim Okpo and himself in 2027.
Hon. Ogban, while recounting his personal experience and that of Hon. Ngim, described Okpo as a man of substance who has worked with government to maintain peace in border communities by resolving boundary disputes across the state. He cited the Biase West boundary issue as one of the major challenges faced by the people.
He encouraged the women to vote for Governor Bassey Otu, Hon. Ngim Okpo and himself to enable them to continue delivering on their promises, adding that all ongoing projects would be completed once they are returned to power.
In his goodwill message, the Secretary to Biase Local Government Council, Barr. Jacob Ukpai, thanked the women for their efforts. He said Governor Bassey Otu, Hon. Ngim Okpo and Hon. Francis Ogban would deliver on their mandate if voted back into office. He urged the women to remain focused, shun distractions and maintain relevance ahead of the general elections.
Responding on behalf of the women, the Biase APC Women Leader, Ms. Ibe Egwu Inna, expressed gratitude for being part of the process.
She promised that the women of Biase APC Chapter would work to ensure the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, Senator Asuquo Ekpeyong, Hon. Ngim Okpo and Hon. Francis Ogban to enable them continue their good work.
