The Cross River State APC National Assembly Caucus has declared its total support for the second term bids of the Cross River State Governor Senator Bassey Otu and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The lawmakers, while briefing newsmen on Thursday in Calabar praised the duo's exceptional performance in their first two years in office, citing notable achievements in infrastructure development, security, and economic growth.
The leader of the APC National Assembly caucus and Senator representing Cross River Central senatorial district Senator Eteng Williams who spoke on-behalf of the legislators revealed that the governor’s achievements in just 2 years in office speaks for itself.
“We are impressed with what we’ve seen Governor Otu achieve in just 2 years, look at the number of roads being constructed, the rejuvenated state of the art library, Governor’s office, the abandoned civil service commission building, security and the total rejigging of the health sector, the projects speak for themselves.
“We are your representatives and we are saying our Governor does not need to be
stressed, they have done well, and they deserve to continue. If from what we have seen they continue in the next six years, Cross River will be a place where everybody will say, if you need anything to work, just go to Cross River. It becomes a destination for investment, and a destination for good governance” Eteng said.
In the same vein, the legislators endorsed the president for another term in office explaining that he has done impressively well in his first tenure and should be allowed to come back and finish the good works he has started.
The chairman of the caucus Senator Eteng Williams said they are endorsing President Tinubu as the sole candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election while urging other political parties to also endorse President Tinubu for 4 more years.
“We at the National Assembly are closer to the seat of power and see first hand all the president has been doing.
“Look at the various infrastructural projects the president has brought on board, the student loan, paid off our long standing external loans substantially, carried out structural shake up in the oil sector and if not for anything else, the Lagos Calabar coastal road which you and I will feel and touch, we endorse him for a second term so that that road will be completed.
“We hereby endorse him as the sole candidate of APC in the next election and if possible we don't think any other party should put anybody up to run against him, let us all vote for Mr. President as our sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election” he affirmed.
The lawmakers while wishing the president and the Governor a happy anniversary, assured them of their unflinching support in 2027.
Lawmakers present at the endorsement were Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong (Cross River South), Senator Eteng Williams (Cross River Central), Hon. Joseph Bassey (Calabar South, Akpabuyo, Bakassi), Hon. Bassey Akiba (Calabar Municipality, Odukpani), Hon. Emil Inyang, (Akamkpa, Biase), Hon. Alex Egbona, (Abi, Yakurr), Hon. Mike Etaba (Obubra Etung), Hon. Victor Abang (Ikom, Boki) and Hon. Peter Akpanke (Obudu, Bekwara, Obanliku).
