The Chairman of Obudu Local Government Council, Hon. Amb. Peter Undiandeye, in collaboration with the good people of Obudu, has formally invited the general public to the much anticipated Obudu New Yam Festival 2025, a week long celebration of culture, unity, and thanksgiving.
The grand cultural fiesta, themed “Festival of Peace and Thanksgiving”, will showcase the rich traditions, heritage, and hospitality of the Obudu people, drawing participants from within and beyond the local government.
According to the chairman, the festival is more than just a ceremonial event; it is a symbol of gratitude to God for a bountiful harvest, an opportunity to strengthen community bonds, and a platform to promote peace and cultural pride.
The festival’s activities promise a vibrant blend of entertainment, competition, and cultural display, including:
• Cultural Carnival and Maidens Parade
• Traditional Rulers’ Parade and Cultural Dances
• Traditional Wrestling, Fufu Eating Competition, and Local Delicacies Samples
• Best Harvester and Best Tapper Competition
• Public Awareness Campaign Against Social Vices
• Football Competition and Cultural Attire Display
• Arts and Crafts Exhibition and Agricultural Innovation Exhibition
• Storytelling (Ushob Ugi), Musical Performances,
• Obudu Face Of Culture International, and much more.
The celebration will build up to a spectacular grand finale on Saturday, 6th September 2025, which promises to be an explosion of fun, fanfare, and culture.
Hon. (Amb) Peter Akonfe Undiandeye encourages everyone; indigenes, residents, and visitors to come and experience the warmth, colour, and joy of Obudu during this festival season.
