The Ministry of Lands wishes to clarify the recent conflicting publications regarding building approvals within Cross River State.
A public service announcement earlier issued by the Ministry of Housing had earlier outlined procedures for building approvals. However, the Ministry of Lands has released a formal circular debunking this, reaffirming that the statutory responsibility for granting building plan approvals and related development permits rests solely with the Ministry of Lands through the Urban Development Authority, as provided by law.
For the sake of transparency and public awareness, both circulars are presented here, but it is important to note that the Ministry of Lands’ directive supersedes and corrects the earlier publication.
The public is therefore advised to disregard the announcement from the Ministry of Housing and direct all applications, inquiries, and related concerns about building approvals to the Ministry of Lands.
