Commissioner Anom Hails Retiring Perm Sec, Gold Ita

The Commissioner for Human Capital and Entrepreneurial Development, Hon. Ntufam Emmanuel Anom, has described the retiring Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Gold Ita, as a reliable and committed administrator who demonstrated experience and a clear understanding of her responsibilities throughout her career.

Anom stated this during a send-forth ceremony organised in honour of Mrs. Ita following her meritorious retirement from the Cross River State Civil Service. The ceremony, held at the Ministry’s Conference Hall, Ministry of Establishments, Training and Pensions Building, New Secretariat Complex, Calabar, recognised her contributions and the cordial relationship she maintained with staff.

The Commissioner expressed mixed feelings over her retirement, noting that she was leaving only a few months after his assumption of office, at a time when her experience was particularly needed. He wished her success and fulfilment in life after service, while urging her to remain available should the Ministry require her counsel in future.

Anom commended Mrs. Ita for her dedication to duty and her ability to bring her wealth of career experience to bear on the responsibilities of her office, saying her service had contributed positively to the Ministry.

Responding, Mrs. Ita thanked the Ministry for the honour and the cordiality she enjoyed during her tenure. She said the peaceful working environment, openness and commitment to duty among staff made her time in the Ministry particularly fulfilling, while commending them for their respect and sincerity.

The retired Permanent Secretary said she was leaving with mixed feelings because of the calm and accommodating atmosphere she experienced among colleagues, adding that she cherished the relationships she built during her time in the Ministry.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishments, Training and Pensions, Mr. Ejemot Esu, described Mrs. Ita as a peaceful and progressive personality who consistently left positive impressions wherever she served. He said her qualities had also been affirmed by staff of the Ministry.

The Head of Planning, Research and Statistics, Mrs. Egan Dien, described Mrs. Ita as a person with a “heart of gold” who valued both her official responsibilities and the people around her. She said the retired Permanent Secretary never looked down on any staff member or took official duties lightly, noting that she often committed her time and personal resources to advancing the work of the Ministry.

The ceremony, moderated by the Director of Administration, Dr. Icha Mboto, was attended by Directors, Heads of Departments and staff of the Ministry, as well as officials from other ministries.

Highlights included prayers for Mrs. Ita and the presentation of gifts in appreciation of her years of dedicated service to the Cross River State Civil Service.
