The achievements of Cross River State in youth empowerment, women development and humanitarian intervention has received international exposure in Oxford, United Kingdom.
This is at the instance of the Commissioner for Social Welfare and Community Development, Archbishop Margaret Ene-Ita, presenting the State’s development strides at the First Global All African Queens Summit.
Representing Governor Bassey Edet Otu and his wife, Bishop Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, the Commissioner and Director General of Team Mma Adiaha Solidarity Movement, delivered a keynote address on “The Spiritual Archetypes of Governance versus Distortions.”
Speaking at the summit, which brought together queens, traditional rulers, policymakers, diplomats and development experts, Archbishop Ene-Ita highlighted the importance of purposeful leadership and its impact on society.
She showcased the humanitarian interventions of the Governor's wife, through her NGO, Humanity Without Borders (HUWIB) Initiative, particularly in women and girls’ empowerment, while also highlighting Governor Otu’s youth empowerment initiatives.
Archbishop Ene-Ita also noted that over 4,500 Cross River youths had been trained in drone technology, solar energy, web development and other innovation-driven skills.
The Commissioner was honoured with a prestigious award and certificate at the summit, which she described as a significant platform for global collaboration and the advancement of women empowerment, technology, sustainable development and transformational leadership.
