CR. Govt. Set to Provide Housing Scheme for Civil Servants across the Three Senatorial Districts - HoS

The Cross River State Head of Service, Barr Bassey Orok has affirmed that the Governor His Excellency Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu has approved a decentralized housing scheme for Civil Servants in the State and across the three Senatorial Districts.

He disclosed this while addressing Civil Servants during the 2026 solemn assembly program to hand over the State service to God for His divine intervention and to marked the commencement of full activities after the new year break. The event held at the office of the Head of Service frontage new Secretariat Complex Calabar with the theme the Manifestation of God's glory in Cross River State witnessed massive attendance by all categories of Civil Servants in the State.

Speaking further, Barr Orok informed that there are lots of good things for this year 2026 and it's going to be very rewarding for Civil Servants courtesy of the Governor's goodwill for Civil Servants and Cross Riverians.

Some of the policy framework to reposition the State service which has approval of the Governor include training of 2000 Civil Servants in preparation for the paperless scheme in the service starting from this first quarter and aimed to reduce corruption, personnel audit exercise to weed out ghost workers with the funds recovered redistributed to increase the take-home of Civil Servants, adding that there will be eagle eyes on the credentials of Civil Servants with a touch on career progression.

He also informed that going forward the office of the Head of Service is now responsible for the payment of Government utility bills and called on MDAs with such needs to reach out to his office, adding that the monthly sanitation has been replaced with medicals and aerobics which will hold at the U.J. Esuene stadium every last Friday of the month.

Highlights of the event were word ministration by Pastor Lawrence Agbata, opening remarks by Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, office of the Head of Service, Mrs Glory Odu-oji, prayer for Cross River State and Nigeria by Pastor Peter A. Ogbu, prayer for CRS workforce by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education Mrs Offiong Ani and also featured praise and worship, choir ministration by the House of Assembly Staff choir and prayer for those in authorities.

In attendance was the Commissioner, Ministry of Establishments, Pensions and Training, Hon. Lawrencia Ita, across section of Permanent Secretaries, Directors and heads of Departments including Staff from different MDAs.
