The Cross River State Diaspora Commission (CRIDCOM) has commenced its activities for the year with a renewed focus on professionalism and teamwork.
The Chairman of the Commission, Otuekong Chief Otu Okor, gave the charge at the Commission’s first management and staff meeting of the year, urging staff and management to maintain commitment as the Commission reflects on past achievements and sets priorities for the year ahead.
Chief Okor commended officers for the progress and visibility achieved within a short operational period, noting that the Commission has attracted attention from other States, given its status as the first State-level Diaspora Commission in the country.
“I want to appreciate everyone for the commitment and visibility we achieved in a very short time last year. The Commission attracted significant attention, even from other States seeking to follow suit. This shows that we are doing something right,” he said.
During the meeting, departmental heads highlighted progress made so far in their respective units, as well as challenges that need to be addressed to improve efficiency and service delivery as CRIDCOM’s activities expand.
Commissioners, including the Commissioner for Diaspora Relations and Engagement, Pastor Eyobong Ita; the Commissioner for Finance and Accounts, Mrs Emily Maduike; the Commissioner for Programs and Events, Evang Dr Mrs Magaret Inde; and the Commissioner for Technology Transfer and Innovation, Mr Ignatius Oli, emphasised teamwork, regular attendance, accountability, and collective responsibility. They stressed that the growth and success of the Commission depend on the commitment of all staff and management.
The highlight of the meeting was the presentation of cash gifts by the Chairman to the first two staff members who reported to work early on resumption day, serving as an encouragement for punctuality, dedication, and commitment.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to professionalism, accountability, and shared responsibility, as CRIDCOM positions itself for a more coordinated and impactful year, with a lineup of programmes and activities planned for 2026.
