CRIDCOM Chairman Receives Lifetime Achievement Award and Ambassadorial Honour from Nigerian Students’ Parliament

The Chairman of the Cross River State Diaspora Commission (CRIDCOM), Prince Otu Okor, has been honoured with two prestigious awards by the Nigerian Students’ Parliament (Southern Assembly) in recognition of his exemplary leadership and the Commission’s growing impact in diaspora engagement, youth development, and inclusive governance.

Receiving the honours during a courtesy visit to the Commission’s headquarters in Calabar, Prince Otu Okor was presented with two awards: the Lifetime Achievement Award in Education and Youth Empowerment and the life title of Nigerian Students’ Parliament Ambassador, in recognition of his outstanding achievements, selfless service to humanity, and support for youth and student development.

He noted that the achievements of the Commission are rooted in teamwork and shared commitment, dedicating the honour to God and to Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu and his wife, Bishop (Dr.) Mrs. Eyoanwan Bassey Edet Otu, for giving him the platform to serve and excel.

“This recognition is not about me; it’s about everyone working together. Good work calls for more work, and we’ll keep striving to do even better,” he said.

Reflecting on his background in student leadership, Prince Okor encouraged the visiting delegates to remain purposeful, uphold integrity, and sustain what he described as “humanistic ideals” in leadership, while pledging support for their cause.

Commissioner for Technology Transfer, Innovation and Tourism, Mr. Ignatius Oli, commended the students for the initiative, urging them to remain consistent and view leadership as a foundation for future responsibility.

“Keep doing what you do, stay consistent, and see every stage as a stepping stone to greater success,” he advised.

Earlier, Speaker of the Nigerian Students’ Parliament, Rt. Hon. Idongesit Okon, explained that the visit was part of activities marking the Parliament’s Legislative Week. He said the delegation came to familiarise with the Commission and appreciate its continuous support to the student community.

“We have observed your leadership style and your contributions to education, community service, and youth development. We came to align with your goals and encourage you to keep pushing forward,” he stated.

A representative of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in CRIDCOM ,Mr Emmanuel Seconds also cautioned the visiting delegates on the dangers of irregular migration, urging them to educate their peers on safe and legal travel pathways.

The visit underscored a growing partnership between CRIDCOM and the student community, built on shared values of service, leadership, and collective progress.
