The Cross River Internal Revenue Service (CRIRS) is partnering with the Ikom Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (IKOMCCIMMA) and Local Government Councils in Central Cross River to host a one-day sensitisation conference on tax harmonisation between the State and Local Governments.
The conference, themed “Tax Harmonization Between State and Local Government: Cross River Central Experience,” is aimed at addressing the challenge of multiple taxation and promoting a more coordinated, transparent and efficient revenue administration system.
The Executive Chairman of CRIRS, Prince Edwin Okon, Ph.D., will attend the conference as Special Guest, while Hon. Yibala Inyang Ingiri, Executive Chairman of Yakurr Local Government Council and Chairman of all Councils in Cross River Central, will serve as Co-Host. The Guest Speaker is Dr. Akornaye U. Adie, Managing Partner, Akornaye Adie & Co.
The event will be hosted by the President/Chairman of Council, IKOMCCIMMA, Mrs. Flora Takim-Ndifon, and is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the ICC Hotel Hall, Four Corners, Ikom.
The conference is expected to bring together government representatives, business owners, taxpayers and other stakeholders to deepen understanding of tax responsibilities and explore practical measures for eliminating duplication in taxation.
It will also provide a platform for stakeholders to discuss ways of improving coordination between State and Local Government revenue authorities while enhancing the ease of doing business across the six Local Government Areas in Cross River Central.
CRIRS said it would continue to promote coordinated, transparent and efficient tax administration across Cross River State through sustained engagement with taxpayers, businesses, Local Government Councils and other relevant stakeholders.
