The Cross River State Carnival Commission has announced the formal establishment of Ikom and Ogoja Carnival to add to the already existing Carnival Calabar.
The idea is to give three Senatorial Districts of the state, a carnival and sustainable event.
This was disclosed in a press statement signed by Hon. Austin Cobham, Executive Secretary of the Carnival Commission, on Friday, 20th September 2024.
The state also announced the appointment of members of the organising committee of the Ikom and Ogoja Carnival.
“In line with Section 3, Subsection 1 (9) of the Cross River State Carnival Commission Law 2005, the Cross River State Carnival Commission wish to announce the formal establishment of Ikom and Ogoja Carnivals as sustainable events.
“Consequently, the following are hereby appointed members of the organising committee:
Ikom Carnival Committee
1. Gommex Bassey – Chairman
2. Veronica Imong – Secretary
3. Nsiya Ogon
4. Ekwele Agube
5. Getty Nyar
6. Monica Ogon
7. Emily Maduekwe
Ogoja Carnival Committee
1. Hon. Emmanivel Ishabor – Chairman
2. Charles Edim Okon – Secretary
3. Hon. Stella Oremie Ekpo
4. Hon. Liz Undie
5. Jacqueline Ulam
6. Stephen Egidi Adinan
7. Hon. Patrick Egana
“Members of the committee are by this expected to put in their passion, motivation and commitment to bring to fore their wealth of experience for the success of the events,” Cobham said.
