The Government of Cross River State has suspended the illegal collection of levies from students by the Management of the College of Health Technology, Calabar.

CrossRiverWatch had unearthed how the school was collecting unapproved levies from students; a report the school management refuted, however.

The State Government through the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Ayuk in a notice said to address the anomalies, all levies should be suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.

He said the Government is committed to ensuring compliance with standards at all levels as well as making social services affordable for all and sundry.

“Payment of N15,000 for admission form, N5,000 for those coming in through JAMB, and an additional N3,000 each, for interview after the entrance.

“Sales of Past question papers to new entrants. Payment of Students Union Government Fee alongside school fee; payment for Portal Maintenance and internet access and payment of extra N1200 by student to cover charges and verification,” part of the notice reads.
