CONSISTENT with compliance with traffic regulations, as well as human and vehicular safety, the Cross River Internal Revenue Service (CRIRS), has commenced its end-of-year Road Taxes enforcement exercise in the Southern Senatorial District of the State. The exercise will began on Wednesday, December 18, and will last through Friday, December 20, 2024.
The 3-day enforcement activity which is in collaboration with major stakeholders such as the Federal Road Safety Corps and Security Agencies, is to remind motorists of the need to prioritize safety by ensuring their vehicle number plates are not defaced, driver's licenses and other essential vehicle particulars are all current.
A statement signed by the Executive Chairman of Cross River Internal Revenue Service, Prince Edwin Okon, dated 18th December, 2024, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating: "We are committed to ensuring that our roads are safe for everyone. This enforcement will help remind motorists of their responsibilities and the critical role they play in maintaining road safety for all road users."
In a similar vein, the Service has kick-started its 2-week Property Tax enforcement within the State capital for unpaid liabilities on Rental Income, Ground Rent and Land Use related charges.
The Internal Revenue Service further called on motorists, landowners, landlords and those with certificates of occupancy to cooperate fully with its enforcement officers during this period emphasizing the need for mutual respect, understanding and compliance as it strives to serve the people better.
