The Cross River State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has called for a sustained commitment to women's empowerment, asserting that intentional investment in female professionals is a prerequisite for societal growth.
Reflecting on the recently concluded International Women’s Day (IWD) celebrations during its monthly meeting, the Chapter highlighted the enduring relevance of this year’s theme, "Give to Gain." In a public relations statement signed by the State's Chairman, Dr Augustine Mboso, the Institute emphasized that the message must resonate far beyond a single day of celebration.
The NIPR maintained that the "Give to Gain" philosophy serves as a reminder that institutions flourish when they actively remove barriers to female advancement.
According to the Chapter, providing mentorship, equitable opportunities, and visible platforms to women yields tangible dividends for the broader community.
"When we give support, recognition, and opportunity to women, society as a whole stands to gain," the statement noted, pointing toward stronger leadership and more inclusive development as direct outcomes of such investments.
The Institute lauded the contributions of women within the public relations and communications sectors for their selfless service and urged them to keep the fire burning.
The Chapter observed that female practitioners have been instrumental in strengthening organizational reputations through strategic messaging as well as deepens stakeholder engagement with empathetic and creative approach and elevating ethical standards within the communication profession.
"The NIPR Cross River State Chapter is urging organizations, government institutions, and private sector leaders to transition from symbolic gestures to policy-driven support.
The Chapter encourages the adoption of initiatives that allow women to not only enter the workforce but to thrive and occupy top-tier leadership positions" the statement added.
