... Set To Procure Agric Equipment For Mechanised Farming

As part of efforts to demonstrate its committement toward revamping the tourism sector through public private partnership, the state government has concluded plans to refurbish the studio at Kada Cinemas razed by inferno which affected the film house located at Marina Resort recently.

The intervention is part of far reaching resolutions adopted at the end of the 22nd State Executive Meeting held yesterday in Calabar.

According to the Commissioner for Information, Erasmus Ekpang, "The state government opted to fix the burnt studio to demonstrate its readiness for a robust synergy with potential investors in revamping not our tourism sector, but every facet of our state economy."

The intervention is intended to sustain current momentum attained in rijing the tourism sector, address the need of the public for a condusive atmosphere, while sending strong message to potential investors with regards to government's readiness to shield their investment from unwarranted hazards.

Other decisions reached at the meeting include procurement of 108 units of tractors to boost mechanized farming with a view of ensuring food security and massive participation of youths in the agricultural sector.

The state Executive Council also resolved to award contracts for the upgrading of facilities and rehabilitation of Ikom general hospital to meet globally acceptable standard, completion of the Local Government Service Commission building at the New Secretariat Complex abandoned over a decade ago.

Equally approved by the Council are contracts for reconstruction of the Ugep urban roads, the procurement of 10 transformers to replace worn- out ones across the state as well as resuscitation of the Odukpani -Akamkpa Electrification network.

Meanwhile, three executive bills are to be forwarded to the state House of Assembly. The are ; Bill for the amendment of the state security trust fund law 2010,Bill for the mainstreaming of climate change actions and establishment of the state Council on Climate change and bill for the establishment of the state green economy Commission.

Other projects proposed for the by government include rehabilutation of the internal road networks in Ogoja, Ikom, Ugep and the completion of the Yahe- Ebo- Wanokom- Wanikade -Wanihem -Benue Border road, Boki East-West road and Oban road in Akamkpa amongst other projects.
