C'River to Support Campaign On Security Consciousness In Women

Ministry of Local Government Affairs Commissioner, Chief Felix Idem, has promised to support campaigns for the awakening of security consciousness amongst women across the State.

Speaking in his office Friday when he received the executives of all female organization, "Stand Up for Women Society" (SWS) led by its Chairman, Mrs Patricia Ikpai, the Commissioner expressed his alignment with Governor Otu's 'People's First' mantra and pledged to support the security awareness creation campaign.

Chief Idem applauded women for their innate energy and doggedness in handling domestic affairs, emphasizing that the sensitization campaign, will further build up the girl child, giving her the confidence to strive in today's demanding society.

He called for more inclusive, multi-stakeholder approach, especially collaborative engagements with the Ministry of Education and thay of Women Affairs, to successfully execute their campaign initiative.

In her presentation, the State Chairman, Stand Up for Women Society, Mrs. Patricia Ikpai, disclosed that the Organization, is a all-female, non-political, non-religious Organization constituted to build up a total woman who will fight for her right in the society.

She said that the move became necessary because according to her, women have so much to contribute in the growth of the home, community, state and country at large.

Mrs. Ikpai noted that with the sensitization and enlightenment campaigns already set to roll, villages will come together to form a strong local security forces, with women playing critical roles, that will help tackle crime and criminality in communities where women are the most vulnerable.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Local Government Affairs, Mrs Atim Ekpenyong, commended the group for taking a bold step in being major players in security their respective communities and advocating for expansion to allow more women as well as solicited support from the State Government for the programme to make meaningful impact.

The event climaxed with the conferment of Patron ship of the Group on the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs,Chief Felix Idem.

The Organization also had in their company, Mrs Roseline Irek - Vice Chairman, Mrs Okama Williams - Secretary, and Mrs Ursula Ikpali Organising Secretary.
