A Cross River-born National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Ms. Precious Nkere Ewa, has donated educational materials and other items to 100 pupils of L.E.A. Primary School, Kuduru, Bwari, Abuja, through her foundation, Little Light Foundation.
Ewa, who hails from Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State, made the donation when she visited the school last Monday as part of the foundation’s efforts to support children and encourage learning.
A graduate of Linguistics and Communication Studies from the University of Calabar, Ewa is currently serving with the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Abuja, as her Place of Primary Assignment under the NYSC scheme.
The items donated through the Little Light Foundation included books, pens, pencils, erasers, rulers, socks and biscuits, which were presented to 100 pupils of the school.
Speaking during the visit, Ewa said the gesture was aimed at providing some of the basic things the pupils need while encouraging them to remain focused on their education.
“Every child deserves a chance to learn. Through the Little Light Foundation, we are simply doing our part to provide some of the basic things these pupils need and encourage them to stay focused on their education,” she said.
She encouraged the pupils to take their studies seriously, remain disciplined and make good use of the opportunities available to them.
Ewa said her love for children and desire to support their educational development informed the decision of the Little Light Foundation to reach out to the pupils.
She expressed appreciation to the school authorities for welcoming the foundation and providing the opportunity to reach out to the pupils.
The school community received the donation with appreciation, while the pupils expressed excitement over the learning materials and other items presented to them.
The gesture forms part of the activities of the Little Light Foundation, founded by Ewa, to support children and contribute to their educational development.
Ewa, who is currently undertaking her mandatory national service in Abuja, said she remained committed to using the foundation to make a positive contribution to the lives of children.
