Cross River State has recorded a remarkable milestone in the history of the Nigeria Police Force, with three of its illustrious sons elevated simultaneously to the prestigious rank of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police.
The newly decorated senior officers are AIG Akaninyene Ezima from Biase Local Government Area, AIG Nnaghe Itam from Yakurr Local Government Area, and AIG Bassey Ewah from Etung Local Government Area.
Speaking as Chairman of the Occasion at a reception organised in their honour at the Nigeria Police Resource Centre, Abuja, former Commissioner of Police, Barr. Lawrence Alobi, described the event as unprecedented.
According to him, it is the first time in the history of the Nigeria Police Force that three officers from the same state have attained the rank of AIG at the same time.
Barr. Alobi commended the officers for their years of dedicated and selfless service to the nation, noting that their elevation was not only a personal achievement but also a source of pride and honour for Cross River State.
He urged Cross River indigenes residing in Abuja to strengthen collaboration, harness their collective resources, and work together towards advancing the development of the state.
Delivering a goodwill message, the Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters, Hon. Chris Mbu Ogar, paid glowing tribute to AIG Bassey Ewah, describing him as a dogged, resilient, and exemplary officer whose contributions have positively impacted both his local community and the socio-economic growth of Cross River State.
Speaking on behalf of the newly decorated officers, AIG Nnaghe Itam expressed profound appreciation to Governor Bassey Otu, who was represented at the decoration ceremony by the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey.
AIG Itam noted that Cross River State has consistently contributed to nation-building by producing men and women of integrity who have distinguished themselves in national service.
He further urged the state’s political leadership and stakeholders to maintain strong relationships with public office holders, stressing that unity and collective purpose remain essential for the continued progress and development of Cross River State.
The reception attracted an array of prominent Cross River leaders, public officials, and dignitaries resident in the Federal Capital Territory, including Senator Eteng Jones Williams, Rt. Hon. Bassey Ewa, Hon. Alex Egbona, and the Special Adviser, Abuja Liaison Office, Mrs. Sarah Archibong, among others.
