Cross River State has set a new record with an impressive N6.3 billion generated as Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in July 2024. This figure represents the highest monthly revenue the state has achieved in recent years.
Hon. (Dr) Erasmus Ekpang, Commissioner for Information, shared this milestone during a briefing on August 16th in Calabar. He highlighted that the July revenue significantly surpasses previous figures and is a key indicator of the state’s robust financial health. With this momentum, the state’s IGR is projected to reach N75.6 billion within the next year, more than doubling the N31.4 billion collected in 2022.
Ekpang attributed this success to the transparent administration of Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, noting the significant improvements in revenue collection by various Ministries, Developments, and Agencies (MDAs). He also recognized the exceptional performance of CRISSAA, led by Director General Ubong Sam, who has notably increased the agency’s revenue through innovative strategies.
The Commissioner also mentioned ongoing renovations in key state institutions, such as the Newspaper Corporation and CRBC, which are expected to further boost IGR.
