Consistent with the present administration’s commitment to transparency and prudent management of government assets, the Special Adviser to the Cross River State Governor on Asset Management and Recovery, Barr. Gilbert Agbor, embarked on an assessment tour of Summit Hills and Calabar International Convention Center (CICC).
The tour, conducted on-site by the Director General of Summit Hills, Mr. Joseph Edet, recently, saw Barr. Agbor and his team inspect the full range of assets housed within the world-class convention facility and the larger enclave. The visit formed part of the state’s ongoing asset inventory initiative under the directive of Governor Senator Bassey Edet Otu.
Reiterating Governor Otu’s commitment to a comprehensive asset inventory and recovery process, Barr. Agbor further demanded a well-structured database capturing all plots within the Summit Hills enclave—indicating which plots have been sold, which remain unsold, and those with outstanding financial obligations to the state.
The state government, according to Barr. Agbor, has expressed displeasure over the persistent failure of some landowners and allottees to fulfill their financial obligations. While urging landowners and allottees to pay their outstanding debts, the SA noted that, in line with Governor Otu’s directive, the state will explore every lawful means to enforce revocation of ownership rights should defaulters fail to comply with the payment directive.
Barr. Agbor also commended the diligent and efficient management of the Summit Hills/CICC under Mr. Edet’s leadership. He acknowledged the strategic importance of the facility as a premier conference and tourism destination, while stressing the need for accurate records and sustainable asset oversight.
In his remarks, Mr. Edet applauded the efforts of the Asset Management and Recovery team in executing the current administration’s mandate to safeguard public assets. He assured that his office would promptly comply with the data requests and align fully with government directives.
Mr. Edet also advocated for enhanced synergy among government ministries, departments, and agencies, noting that collaborative engagement is key to fulfilling the expectations of Cross Riverians and maximizing the value of public infrastructure.
