The Cross River State Leaders Forum has congratulated Governor Bassey Edet Otu on the Federal Government’s formal accreditation of Cross River State as a littoral state.
In a congratulatory message signed by the Leader of Obudu Legislative Council and Leader of Leaders, Cross River State Leaders Forum, Hon. Eneji Sam Ashibi, the group described the development as a landmark achievement with significant implications for the state’s maritime and economic aspirations.
The Forum said the accreditation, alongside the presentation of the new Hydrographic and Geophysical Chart for the proposed Bakassi Deep Seaport, represented a major breakthrough in Cross River’s efforts to fully harness its maritime potential.
According to the group, the development would further strengthen the state’s position to pursue opportunities associated with its blue economy and maritime resources.
The Leaders Forum commended Governor Otu for his persistence and commitment towards securing the historic milestone, noting that the achievement would contribute to unlocking new avenues for economic development in the state.
Ashibi said the development had the potential to strengthen investment opportunities and accelerate maritime infrastructure development, particularly through the proposed Bakassi Deep Seaport.
He added that the formal recognition represented “a significant breakthrough in our state’s maritime aspirations and economic development,” while commending the Governor for his commitment to unlocking Cross River’s blue economy potential.
The Forum expressed confidence that the accreditation would provide a stronger foundation for advancing the Bakassi Deep Seaport project and other maritime-related initiatives capable of driving investment and development across Cross River.
The group described the development as a significant milestone for the state and congratulated Governor Otu on what it termed an important achievement for the people of Cross River State.
“Congratulations, Your Excellency, on this landmark achievement for Cross River State,” Ashibi stated.
