Cross River: Otu Appoints Odu, Arikpo, Nsan As Homeland Security Directors

In a strategic move to bolster security across Cross River State, Governor Senator Bassey Edet Otu has approved the appointment of three Directors to oversee the operations of the Cross River State Homeland Security Agency across the three senatorial districts.

The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Nsa Gill, and dated February 20, 2025.

The newly appointed Directors are: Mr. Raphael Odu – Northern Senatorial District; Mr. Felix Arikpo – Central Senatorial District; and Hon. Michael Nsan – Southern Senatorial District.

“According to the State Planning Commission, the Cross River State Homeland Security Agency is mandated to ensure the safety and security of residents, properties, and infrastructure. It is also responsible for preventing, responding to, and managing emergencies, disasters, and threats that could compromise the peace and stability of the state.

“Furthermore, the agency will work in close coordination with law enforcement agencies, disaster management bodies, and other government departments to strengthen security and resilience across the state. Its core responsibilities include intelligence gathering, crisis management, and implementing public awareness programs related to security,” part of the release read.

The newly appointed Directors, whose appointments are with immediate effect, according to the release, are expected to play a crucial role in addressing security challenges, maintaining law and order, and ensuring an effective emergency response system.
