Cross River Palliative Distribution Committee Get More N500 Million, As Distribution Begins Next week

The Cross River State Palliative Distribution Committee has received an additional N500 million from Governor Bassey Otu for the purchase of more commodities as part of the palliative program of the State to cushion the hash impact of the fuel subsidy removed by the Federal Government.

In a press release signed and issued by the Chairman, Palliative Distribution Committee Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh, while giving the distribution details, said the distribution will commence next week.

“The Cross River State Palliative Distribution Committee has secured additional N500 million funding from the Governor, His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Otu. This is for the purchase of more commodities as part of the palliative program of the State, occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government,” the release stated.

It added: “In the spirit of transparency and accountability, the flag-off of the distribution of 8,600 bags of rice, next week will have students receive the sum of 1,000, religious groups to receive 800, traditional rulers – 400, trade unions-300, Labour unions-800.

“Additionally, civil servants receive 800, persons with disabilities – 200, motherless homes – 200, Internally Displaced Persons -800, refugees-800, pensioners receive 800, support groups/Inter-Party advisory Committee -1,100, security-500 while National Youth Council receive 100.”

“The State Government is said to have already commenced the payment of additional N10,000 allowance to all civil servants in the State, beginning this September 2023, for the next six months as plans have also reached an advanced stage for the roll-out of mass transit buses at subsidized rates to ease transportation challenges faced by citizens.”
