Cross River Police Assure Tight Security Ahead of Easter Celebrations

The Cross River State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has assured residents of adequate security arrangements across the state ahead of the 2026 Easter celebrations.

The assurance was contained in a press release issued on April 4, 2026, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Rashid B Afegbua.

According to the statement, the Command has intensified security operations and strategically deployed personnel and operational assets to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration before, during, and after the Easter festivities.

The Commissioner of Police disclosed that comprehensive operational strategies have been put in place to prevent any breach of peace and curb the activities of criminal elements across the state.

“As part of our proactive policing efforts, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, and other operational units have been directed to sustain intelligence-led patrols, surveillance operations, and raids on identified flashpoints,” the statement read.

He noted that all operations would be conducted strictly in line with the Standard Operating Procedures of the Police Force and in alignment with the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

While extending Easter greetings to Christian faithful and residents of Cross River State, the Commissioner urged citizens to celebrate with moderation and remain vigilant throughout the festive period.

He emphasised the importance of public cooperation, calling on residents to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to enhance effective policing.

The Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order, warning that it would take decisive action against any individual or group attempting to disrupt public peace during the celebrations.

Residents were also encouraged to utilise the Command’s emergency contact lines, which remain active to ensure prompt response to distress situations.

The Police further urged members of the public to remain security-conscious and report suspicious activities, stressing that collective responsibility is key to sustaining peace.

The Command wished all residents a peaceful, joyful, and secure Easter celebration, reiterating its message: “Help the Police to serve you better by saying something when you see something.”
