The Cross River State Government has reopened the personnel verification process for serving officers and pensioners who were not captured during the first phase of the Online Personnel Audit/Verification Exercise.
The move follows observations that some officers and pensioners were unable to complete the exercise due to technical and administrative challenges, prompting the Head of Service, Barr. Orok Bassey Okon, to constitute a Committee to examine and resolve genuine outstanding cases.
In a circular dated August 12, 2026, with reference number GO/HOS/4/VOL.III/348, the Head of Service directed all affected officers and pensioners to appear personally before the Committee at designated venues according to an approved schedule.
The exercise will commence on Monday, August 17, at the Office of the Head of Service, New Secretariat Complex, Calabar, for affected persons from Calabar South, Bakassi, Akpabuyo, Odukpani and Akamkpa Local Government Areas.
The Committee will move to Yakurr Local Government Council Headquarters on August 18 to attend to cases from Biase, Yakurr, Abi and Obubra, while Ikom Local Government Council Headquarters will host the exercise on August 19 for cases from Obubra, Ikom, Etung and Boki.
On August 20, the Committee will be at Ogoja Local Government Council Headquarters for cases from Boki, Ogoja, Yala and Bekwarra, before proceeding to Obudu Local Government Council Headquarters on August 21 to attend to cases from Obudu, Obanliku and Boki.
Affected officers and pensioners have been directed to appear before the Committee with the original copies and photocopies of all relevant supporting documents applicable to their cases.
For name mismatch cases, applicants are required to present NIN and BVN printouts, Marriage Certificate where applicable, Newspaper Publication, Sworn Affidavit, valid means of identification and Letter of Appointment.
Those with BVN-related issues are expected to present BVN and NIN printouts, valid means of identification and Letter of Appointment, while persons with incorrect bank account details must provide a six-month salary or pension bank statement, BVN and NIN printouts, valid means of identification and Letter of Appointment.
For other verification-related cases, affected persons are required to provide all relevant documents necessary to establish and authenticate their records.
The Head of Service urged all affected officers and pensioners to seize the opportunity by appearing personally before the Committee with the required documentation, stressing that doing so would enable their cases to be properly examined and resolved.
He also directed Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Local Government Councils and other relevant authorities to bring the contents of the circular to the attention of affected officers and pensioners under their supervision.
Barr. Okon reiterated that the exercise should be treated with utmost seriousness and urgency, noting that the intervention is aimed at resolving legitimate outstanding verification issues and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of personnel records across the Cross River State Public Service.
