The Government of Cross River State has concluded arrangements to host a special Security Summit on Thursday,30th July,2026 at the Pearl Ball Room, Metropolitan Hotel,Calabar.
Themed "#Unite Against Terror",the Security Summit is being organised by the Cross River State Government in collaboration with all Security Agencies in the State under the headship of the State Security Service,Cross River State Command.
Speaking at the Inaugural Meeting of the Central Planning Committee at the Conference Room of the State Security Service,Calabar,the Chairman of the 2026 Cross River State Security Summit Central Planning Committee,Me Beatrice Akpala lauded the State Governor,Senator Bassey Edet Otu for keying into the National Call for all States in the Country to initiate a Security Summit that will bring together major stakeholders, including Political Leaders, Security Experts, Traditional Rulers,Youths,Students Union Groups,amongst others ventilate ideas that would be United against Terror;adding that Security is the foundation upon which development, investment, education,Tourism,Commerce and peaceful coexistence are built.
Ms Akpala,who is the Special Adviser to Governor Otu on Content Development and Archiving,said the theme of the Summit is both "timely and Compelling",assuring that Governor Otu remains unwavering in it commitment to protecting lives,securing Communities and fostering an enduring environment where every citizen can thrive.
"The Summit is therefore designed to bring together government officials, Security Agencies, Traditional Rulers, religious leaders,Civil Society Organisations,Youth Groups,Women Organisations, Development Partners,the Media,the Organised Private Sector",pointing out that the goal of the Summit is to ignite a State -Wide movement across the eighteen Local Government Areas of the State ,to create awareness on intelligence sharing,Crisis prevention and Citizens as well as Community participation in securing the people.

I charge every member of the Committee to approach this assignment with dedication,professionalism,creativity and integrity',...we must ensure that the conservations at this Summit do not end within the Conference Room but translate in to concrete actions that strengthens our Communities,empower our Youths, encourage vigilance and promote peaceful coexistence",she enthused.
The CPC Chairman said the Summit will feature a roadshow advocacy and sensitisation campaigns across the State and solicited the massive support of Heads of Security Agencies in the State, describing them as the engine room for the success of the Summit.She urged Committee Members to continue to make invaluable contributions to guarantee delivery of the assignment.
In his remarks at the Meeting,the Director of the Cross River State Command of the Directorate of State Services,Mr.Oluwole Faluyi thanked Governor Otu for the confidence reposed in them to organised the Summit,assuring that they will Mobilise everyone towards the success of the Summit
Mr Faluyi enjoined all Committee members to bring to bear on the assignment,their professional acumen and expertise in order to achieve the goals of the Summit.
The members of the Committee were drawn from the Religious Leaders Traditional Rulers, Government Officials,the Directorate of the State Services(DSS)the Nigeria Police,the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC),the Nigerian Army,Navy,Air force, Immigration Service,Customs, Nigerian Correctional Service, the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Academia, Youths, the Media, amongst others.
