The Cross River State Director of Information, Mr. David Akate, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his selfless service to humanity by the Catholic Men Organisation (CMO) of St. Anthony of Padua Quasi Parish, Basin Satellite Town, Calabar.
The award was presented during the grand finale of the CMO Talent Week, which coincided with the celebration of International Father's Day.
The event brought together parishioners, guests, and members of the Catholic Men Organisation to honour outstanding individuals whose lives exemplify dedicated service to God and humanity.
Receiving the award, Mr. Akate expressed profound appreciation to the Catholic Men Organisation for considering him worthy of the honour.
He described the recognition as a renewed call to greater service and commitment.
He prayed for God's grace and wisdom to continue rendering meaningful and impactful service to the Church, society, and humanity at large.
Delivering the homily during the thanksgiving Mass, the Priest-in-Charge of the parish, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Bassey, described selfless service as the cornerstone of Christianity.
He urged Christians to emulate the life of Jesus Christ, whose humility, compassion, and sacrificial love remain the perfect model for all believers.
Rev. Fr. Bassey encouraged the faithful to make service to humanity a way of life, stressing that true greatness is measured by one's willingness to serve others.
In all, ten distinguished parishioners, including the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Bassey, were honoured with various awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the growth of the Church and the development of society.
