In a spirited o p e n i n g ceremony, the Honorable Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Hon. E r i k a LawrenciaIta, e x p r e s s e d h e r excitement for the e-Government training program aimed at enhancing the skills of civil servants in Cross River State. Speaking on behalf of Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu, she emphasized the administration's commitment to investing in its workforce. Hon. Ita urged the selected trainees to be attentive.
Beshel, the Honorable Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, the brain behind the initiative while addressing the gathering, welcoming the teams from the Federal Ministry of Communication, Information and Digital Economy, and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). He highlighted that Cross River State is the sixth state in Nigeria to receive this valuable training aimed at promoting digital governance. “Our administration’s goal is to reduce costs associated with our lean federal allocations by going digital and embracing a paperless approach,” he explained. He further motivated participants by mentioning that those who excel in the training could be recognized by the Nigeria Governors Forum.

Dr. Mrs. Eteng, the Director of Information, Communication Technology (ICT) at the University of Calabar, in her remark on the unique timing of the training, coinciding with the university’s 37th convocation. She praised the state government’s initiative, affirming that today’s governments must be digital, data-driven, and citizen-focused. The event featured training sessions covering keypoints, opportunities for team bonding and brainstorming, and concluded with a group photograph to mark the occasion. Participants left inspired and ready to embrace the digital future of governance in Cross River State
