Lagos, September 10, 2026 — Cross River State has recorded another major milestone in its digital transformation journey, winning eight awards at the 2026 Nigeria eGovernment Excellence Awards held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
The awards recognised the State’s leadership, digital policy direction, improvement in eGovernment service delivery, mobile government initiatives, digital innovation and technology-driven revenue administration.
The recognitions include awards presented to the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, the Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, Associate Professor Justin Beshel, the Cross River State Government, the My Cross River App, and the State’s technology partner, Nugi Technologies Nig. Ltd.

The recognition of His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, as Governor of the Year – Digital Revenue & IGR Innovation, is a significant acknowledgement of the administration’s commitment to using technology to strengthen governance, improve internally generated revenue and enhance the ease of doing business in the State. The award also reflects the administration’s broader vision of making technology a key driver of development and public-sector reform in Cross River State.

Similarly, the award of State Digital Policy Leader of the Year to the Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, Associate Professor Justin Beshel, recognises the strategic policy direction and institutional efforts supporting the State’s digital transformation agenda.
The awards for State Mobile Government Initiative and Most Improved State eGovernment Service Deployment further highlight the progress being made in deploying technology across government operations and bringing public services closer to citizens.
Building a Digitally Connected Cross River
At the centre of the State’s digital transformation is an expanding ecosystem of technology platforms designed to improve government processes, revenue administration, payments, service delivery and citizen engagement. The My Cross River App, which received the GovTech Innovation of the Year and Best Government Payment Solution awards, represents one of the key citizen-facing components of this ecosystem.
The State’s partnership with its technology partner, Nugi Technologies Nig. Ltd., has supported the development and deployment of a number of digital solutions contributing to the ongoing transformation of government services and internal operations.
The latest recognitions therefore underscore the growing impact of the State’s digitalisation efforts and its commitment to building a more efficient, accessible and digitally connected government.
