Cross River State Government said it will soon take delivery of Information Communication Technology (ICT) equipment worth millions of naira to completely transition from analog to digital technology, operate 100% e-governance, with all files imputed into its e-governance structure, and drive state affairs with ICT.
The Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr Justin Beshel, disclosed this during the closing ceremony of a three-day Capacity Building Program for Digital Government in Nigeria held in Calabar.
The training was co-hosted by the Korean government, the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, and the Cross River State Ministry of Science and Technology.
He said that having completed the first phase of the digitalisation process, the next step is to develop infrastructure to ensure a complete transition.
The Commissioner said the government has completely overhauled its portal system on crossriverstate.gov.ng and approved the purchase of computers for members of the state executive council and members of the state House of Assembly.
He charged the 110 civil servants who were selected for the training to make the most of it as they would be expected to relay the knowledge acquired to others.
In a remark, the Commissioner for Wealth Creation, Patrick Egbede, commended Governor Bassey Otu for the training which he noted will drive effectiveness and efficiency in government and improve service delivery in the public sector.
