The Chairman of the Cross River State Commercial Transport Regulatory Agency, Mr. Efa Nyong, has hailed State Governor Apostle Prince Bassey Otu as an icon of true democracy.
Nyong made this statement in a solidarity message to the Governor, his wife, Bishop Eyoanwan-Itam Otu, and Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Peter Odey in celebration of the 2025 Democracy Day in Calabar.
He emphasized that Governor Otu's people-centric policies reflect a strong belief in the core principles of democracy, where power resides with the people, who should ultimately determine their own fate. Nyong commended the Governor for prioritizing the needs of the populace.
In his praise, Nyong highlighted Governor Otu’s extensive infrastructure development initiatives, which have significantly transformed the state and attracted both local and foreign direct investments. He specifically mentioned the remodeling and digitalization of the Governor’s Office, the establishment of an ultramodern state library, and the completion of the Local Government Service Commission complex.
Nyong noted that these projects exemplify the Governor's commitment to creating a conducive environment for citizens to thrive. He observed that the Governor's achievements in road construction, healthcare, education, and agriculture have notably enhanced the quality of life for ordinary Cross Riverians.
While expressing gratitude to the Federal Government for its steadfast support in strengthening democratic institutions, the Chairman remarked, "The 2025 Democracy Day celebration in Calabar serves as an opportunity for stakeholders to reflect on the progress made in the State and to reaffirm their commitment to democratic principles. Governor Otu's leadership has been pivotal in this progress."
The Commercial Transport Agency Chairman assured citizens of an improved, safe, affordable, and reliable transport system in the State, disclosing that the modernization process, starting with commercial motor branding and the refurbishment and reconstruction of bus stops, signaling the dawn of a new era in transportation in Cross River.
Mr. Nyong expressed optimism regarding Governor Otu's transformative abilities, stating, "As Cross River State continues to grow and develop, Governor Otu's leadership will remain crucial in shaping the state's future."
