The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Pastor (Hon.) Ekpenyong Ene Cobham, has felicitated with Muslim faithful across Cross River State on the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud, the celebration marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, Peace be upon him.
In a statement issued on behalf of Governor Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu and the State Government, Cobham described it as an honour to join the Muslim community in marking the sacred occasion.
He noted that the celebration serves as a reminder to all, regardless of faith, of the timeless example set by the Holy Prophet, a life of compassion, humility, justice, and selfless service to humanity.
According to him, these values transcend religion and resonate with all Cross Riverians and Nigerians.
The Commissioner reaffirmed Governor Otu’s commitment to the principle that Cross River State belongs to everyone, irrespective of religious inclination, whether Christian, Muslim, or traditionalist.
He said the state’s strength lies in its diversity and in the shared resolve of its people to live together in peace, mutual respect, and brotherhood.
“As our Muslim community marks this celebration, we are reminded once again of what is possible when a people choose unity over division,” Cobham said.
He assured the Muslim community of the administration’s continued commitment to their welfare, stressing that the Otu-led government remains dedicated to building a Cross River where every citizen, regardless of religion, enjoys a true sense of belonging and security.
The Commissioner further urged Muslim faithful to use the occasion, as they gather with family and loved ones, to offer prayers for the state and the nation. He specifically called for prayers for continued peace, stability, and unity as Nigeria approaches electioneering activities.
On behalf of Governor Otu and the Government of Cross River State, Cobham wished Muslim faithful a joyous, peaceful, and blessed Eid-el-Maulud celebration.
