Gov. Otu Inaugurates State's Electricity Agency

The Cross River State Governor, Prince Bassey Otu has inaugurated the recently appointed members of the State's Electrification Agency(SEA) with a charge to deliver on their mandate of illuminating the State by providing power to both served and underserved communities.

Speaking shortly after administering the oath of office and allegiance to the newly constituted Agency, in his office in Calabar, Thursday, Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Prince Eka Williams, expressed gratitude to Governor Bassey Otu for appointing capable individuals to serve in the Agency.

He emphasized the importance of bringing all parts of the State back into the national grid, disclosing that over 80 percent of Cross River is currently without access to electricity.

The Commissioner solicited for strong synergy between the Agency and his Ministry, urging them to collaborate closely to deliver efficient and effective services to Cross Riverians in line with the People's first mantra.

He charged the newly appointed officials to strive for excellence as well as bring their expertise to bear while discharging official duties for the attainment of their mandate.

Responding on behalf of the appointees, the Director General Cross River State Electricity Agency(SEA) Mr. Francis Ekpo, thanked Governor Bassey Otu for the opportunity to serve in his administration and promised to provide quality and sustainable power supply to Cross Riverians as mandated by their Agency.

He explained that since the Agency 's establishment in 2007, such a significant initiative of members been inaugurated had not been undertaken, underscoring the government's commitment in advancing electrification across the State.

Ekpo assured the Commissioner that he and his team would work in harmony with him to propel the desired electricity coverage that Would enhance economic growth.

Those appointed into the Cross River State Electrification Agency (SEA) are Mr. Francis Ekpo as Director General, Engr. Obono Onen as Director, Eugene Umera as Director, Effiong Okon as Director, and Hon. Francis Asuquo as Director
