Cross River State Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, has sponsored 12 auditors from the Office of the Auditor General for Local Governments to the 31st Annual Conference of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) held in Abuja.
The Auditor General for Local Governments, Cross River State, Mr Bassey Abam Eko, FCAL, CNA, disclosed this on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, when the newly elected executive members of ANAN, Cross River State Chapter, paid him a courtesy visit at his office in the New Secretariat, Calabar.
Eko said the Governor’s decision to sponsor the auditors reflected his administration’s sustained commitment to capacity building and strengthening financial accountability across the state.

The Auditor General commended Governor Otu for prioritising human capital development, noting that investments in the knowledge and professional capacity of public officers would continue to yield benefits for the state’s financial management system.
The courtesy visit by the ANAN leadership was aimed at formally introducing the newly elected executive members of the association to the Auditor General and strengthening professional relationships between the association and his office.
Eko welcomed the initiative, expressing readiness to deepen collaboration with the association in areas that would promote professional development, accountability and sound financial management in Cross River State.
