HoS Drives Excellence Agenda with Capacity-Building Training for Civil Servants in C'River

In a decisive move to reposition the public service for greater efficiency and impact, the Office of the Head of Service, Cross River State, has successfully organized a high-level training programme focused on Driving Excellence in Public Sector Leadership, Capacity Building, Workplace Excellence, and Workplace Communication.

The capacity-building initiative brought together Permanent Secretaries, Directors, and key personnel across the state civil service, all united by a shared commitment to enhancing professionalism and service delivery.

In his keynote address, the Head of Service, Orok Bassey Okon Esq., charged participants to translate the knowledge gained into measurable improvements in their respective roles. He emphasized that the era of complacency in the public sector is over, noting that he expects to see visible changes marked by excellence, efficiency, and accountability in service delivery going forward.

The training featured insightful presentations from seasoned experts and academics. Distinguished lecturers from the prestigious University of Calabar led sessions that addressed critical aspects of workplace performance. Dr. Kachi Kankpang delivered an engaging lecture on workplace communication, highlighting the importance of clarity, feedback mechanisms, and effective interpersonal relations in achieving organizational goals.

In another impactful session, Christie Bassey, a top management staff of Selah, provided an in-depth discourse on workplace excellence. Her presentation offered practical strategies for cultivating a culture of professionalism, innovation, and continuous improvement within the public service.

A major highlight of the event was the presentation of grants to selected participants, aimed at supporting long-term financial planning and empowering civil servants to achieve personal and professional stability.

The training programme was carefully designed to enhance the professional effectiveness of public servants, with a strong focus on communication skills, long-term financial planning, and overall service delivery excellence. Participants expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as timely, impactful, and essential for modern public sector demands.

The presence of top government functionaries, including Permanent Secretaries and Directors, further underscored the importance of the training and the state government’s unwavering commitment to building a responsive, result-oriented civil service.
