Barr. Gilbert Agbor, Special Adviser to the Cross River State Governor on Asset Management and Recovery, has dedicated his award as the Best Performing and Pragmatic Special Adviser in Cross River State to Governor Bassey Edet Otu, describing the Governor as a leader who embodies the virtues of service, responsibility and purposeful leadership.
Agbor received the award from the Order of the Knights of St. Mulumba (KSM), Nigeria, Obubra Sub-Council, during the launching of the second phase of the KSM Obubra Secretariat Project, held under the distinguished chairmanship of Prof. Joe Ukpata. The occasion was attended by the Chief Launcher, Arc. Louis Lapo (KSM); Special Guest of Honour, Mr. Raphael Bernard; Father of the Day, Engr. Jimmy Irek; Mother of the Day, Mrs. Vera Otera Okey; and Youths of the Day, Hon. Godsfavour Prince Ewonna and Comrade Emmanuel Oyama.
The recognition of Agbor, according to the Sub-Council, was in appreciation of his pragmatic approach to public service and support for initiatives aimed at promoting community development and institutional growth.
Speaking after receiving the honour, Agbor expressed gratitude to the leadership and members of the Knights for finding him worthy, describing the recognition as a call to greater service, responsibility and commitment to faith, integrity, compassion and community development.
“I dedicate this honour to Governor Bassey Edet Otu, who, like the Knights of St. Mulumba, embodies the values of service and responsible leadership. His example continues to inspire those of us privileged to serve in his administration,” Agbor said, assuring that the recognition would further strengthen his resolve to contribute to the progress of Cross River State.
The Special Adviser said his responsibilities in asset management and recovery would continue to be guided by accountability and responsible stewardship, stressing that public resources must be properly managed and deployed for the benefit of the people. He also commended the Knights for the second phase of their secretariat project, describing it as a demonstration of what could be achieved through collective commitment.
According to him, the secretariat represents more than a physical structure, as it symbolises permanence, service, organisation and a lasting legacy for generations to come. He commended the Knights for their commitment to building institutions that would strengthen their service to God, humanity and society.
Earlier, the Grand Knight and Chief Host, Bro. Philip Andrew Oyama, acknowledged Agbor’s contribution to the project, revealing that he had been instrumental in motivating support for the initiative.
Oyama recalled that the first funds raised towards the project came through Agbor’s intervention, while expressing appreciation for the relationship established with him. He also commended Agbor’s cordial relationship with his staff, saying members of the organisation had received positive testimonies about his disposition towards those working with him.
Oyama said the Sub-Council considered Agbor deserving of the award because of his performance and pragmatic approach to public service.
