The management and staff of Lafarge Africa Plc gathered at the Akwa Ikot Effanga Community in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State for the 2026 Medical Outreach, organized to commemorate World Malaria Day. The annual event aims to improve healthcare delivery within the company’s host communities.
The outreach, led by the Plant Manager of Lafarge Africa Plc, Adedeji Esan, took place at the newly renovated health centre in the community. The event drew the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Ayuk, the Community Relations Officer, Immaculata Archibong, as well as women, men, children, and elderly residents who turned out in large numbers to benefit from the free medical services.
Speaking during the event, the Community Relations Officer, Mrs. Immaculata Archibong, noted that the medical outreach is organized yearly as part of the company’s commitment to providing free healthcare services to residents of the host community.
In his opening remarks, the Plant Manager, Mr. Adedeji Esan, thanked God for the opportunity to gather once again with members of the community. He emphasized that Lafarge Africa Plc remains committed to supporting the community in every possible way and appreciated the people for their cooperation and peaceful relationship with the company over the years.
Mr. Esan further stated that the medical outreach programme was completely free for all indigenes of the community, assuring residents that Lafarge Africa Plc would continue to support them whenever the need arises.
Responding, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Ayuk, welcomed everyone and commended the management and staff of Lafarge Africa Plc for the laudable initiative. He noted that the company’s decision to organize free medical outreach programmes has significantly helped reduce pressure on the healthcare sector and government facilities.
Dr. Ayuk also appreciated the administration of Bassey Edet Otu for its continued support toward maintaining quality healthcare delivery across the state. He assured the company that the Ministry of Health would always be ready to collaborate with Lafarge Africa Plc whenever called upon.
The event ended with a group photograph featuring the Commissioner for Health, the Plant Manager, directors, members and staff of Lafarge Africa Plc, alongside members of the host community.
