of Calabar, His Lordship, Rt. Hon. James O. Anam, accompanied by his entourage, paid a courtesy visit to the Management of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH, Calabar, on Wednesday, September.
The Mayor commended the visionary leadership of UCTH and the significant milestones recorded by the hospital.
He also solicited the hospital’s partnership in supporting health centres within the metropolis, citing challenges of inadequate personnel and limited availability of medications.
The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Ikpeme A. Ikpeme, welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed UCTH’s commitment to serving the community despite increasing demands on the hospital.
Prof. Ikpeme noted that the Department of Community Medicine already provides a strong link between UCTH and healthcare facilities within the community. He added that medical experts from the hospital also carry out corporate social responsibility projects within the metropolis and beyond.
He further highlighted the existing support of Lions Clubs International to healthcare delivery in the state through its facility in Odukpani.
The CMD assured the Mayor of the hospital’s continued partnership with the host community, particularly in the area of professional support, where necessary and within available resources.
