The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Cross River State Chapter, has congratulated the newly appointed Commissioner for Information, Pastor Ekpenyong Cobham, while seeking stronger collaboration with the Ministry to enhance public communication and promote the image of Cross River State.
The Chairman of the Institute’s Cross River State Chapter, Pastor Augustine Mboso, conveyed the congratulatory message when he led a delegation of the chapter on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner, describing his appointment as an opportunity to further strengthen professional cooperation within the state’s information and public relations sector.
Mboso expressed the Institute’s readiness to work closely with the Ministry in advancing effective public communication, particularly in ensuring that government policies, programmes and achievements are accurately and professionally communicated to the public.
He said, “We are here first to congratulate the Commissioner on his appointment and to assure him that NIPR is ready to work with the Ministry. We believe that when professionals in information and public relations work together, the people of Cross River will benefit from better and more effective communication.”
The NIPR chairman emphasised the importance of unity, professionalism and collaboration among communication practitioners, noting that a strong partnership between the Institute and the Ministry would contribute significantly to bridging communication gaps between government and citizens.
Responding, Commissioner Ekpenyong Cobham appreciated the NIPR delegation for the visit and congratulatory gesture, describing it as a demonstration of professional solidarity and a willingness to build stronger relationships within the communication sector.
Cobham said, “I appreciate the NIPR leadership for coming to congratulate me and for expressing its willingness to collaborate with the Ministry. We welcome this partnership because effective communication is fundamental to good governance.”
The Commissioner assured the delegation of the Ministry’s readiness to work with NIPR and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen information management, improve public communication and ensure that citizens are adequately informed about government policies and programmes.
He noted that communication practitioners had a responsibility to uphold professionalism and credibility, stressing that accurate and timely information remained essential to building public trust in government institutions.
Cobham expressed confidence that closer cooperation with NIPR would provide opportunities for professional knowledge-sharing and strengthen the capacity of communication practitioners to effectively communicate government activities and engage the public.
He further encouraged stakeholders in the sector to embrace teamwork and professionalism, noting that a coordinated communication framework would enhance the state’s image and support the administration’s development agenda.
