The Executive Chairman of Obudu Local Government Area, Hon. (Amb.) Peter Akonfe Undiandeye, on Saturday, warmly welcomed the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, during his visit to Obudu on Day 3 of his ongoing Northern Senatorial District tour.
The Deputy Governor arrived with a high-profile entourage, including Hon. Peter Akpanke (Member, House of Representatives for Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku Federal Constituency), Hon. Sylvester Agabi (Deputy Leader, CRSHA and Member representing Obudu State Constituency), serving commissioners from Obudu, traditional rulers, political stakeholders, and community leaders.
In his address, Hon. Undiandeye applauded the Deputy Governor for initiating the senatorial tour, which aligns with the New Yam Festival being celebrated across the North. He described the initiative as both timely and people-centered, reflecting a deep commitment to grassroots inclusion.
“Your Excellency sir, we have had a lot. As an LGA that, in the last administration, produced both a Governor and a Minister, one would think we have no demands left, but governance is a continuum,” the Chairman remarked.
The Chairman thanked Governor Bassey Otu’s administration for sustaining work on the Obudu Cargo and Passenger Airport, while also highlighting several pressing issues, including the deplorable condition of the Bekwarra-Obudu road, high rate of youth unemployment and border insecurity due to proximity with Benue State
He further called for enhanced local government oversight in employment processes to foster service delivery and expand opportunities at the community level.

The Paramount Ruler of Obudu, in his address, commended the administration of Governor Otu and the Deputy Governor, while urging the government to address educational imbalance in the state. He proposed the establishment of a state university in Ogoja, noting that the Southern Senatorial District already hosts multiple higher institutions.
In a passionate message on behalf of the youth, Mr. Linus AbouIkwen praised both the Deputy Governor and the Chairman of Council Hon. Undiandeye, describing his administration as the first in Obudu to deliberately involve young people in governance and decision-making.
Other dignitaries, including members of the State House of Assembly and traditional council, also commended the Deputy Governor’s tour as a strategic and inclusive engagement model that brings government closer to the people.
The visit concluded with cultural performances, solidarity messages, and renewed hopes that the “Season of Sweetness” will yield lasting dividends for the people of Obudu and the entire Northern Senatorial District.
