Speaking with journalists in Yola, Adamawa State, on the sidelines of the ceremony, Hon. Dr. Undiandeye described the honour as a well-deserved recognition of Governor Otu’s exemplary leadership and impactful contributions to governance, public service, and humanitarian development.
He noted that since assuming office, Governor Otu has recorded remarkable milestones across critical sectors, particularly in education, infrastructure, healthcare delivery, and the overall welfare of citizens. According to him, the administration’s interventions in the education sector - ranging from improved funding for public schools, revitalisation of learning facilities, to enhanced support for teachers, have strengthened human capital development across the state.
The Obudu Council Chairman further highlighted Governor Otu’s strides in infrastructure development, including the rehabilitation and construction of strategic roads, urban renewal initiatives, and investments in public utilities, which have improved connectivity, boosted economic activities, and enhanced the quality of life of residents.
In the health sector, Hon. Dr. Undiandeye commended the Governor’s commitment to upgrading healthcare facilities, strengthening primary healthcare services, and expanding access to quality medical care, particularly for rural and vulnerable populations. He added that these interventions have significantly improved health outcomes and reinforced confidence in the state’s health system.
Beyond sectoral achievements, the Council Chairman emphasised that Governor Otu’s administration has prioritised the overall welfare of Cross Riverians through people-oriented policies, social protection programmes, and inclusive governance that places the wellbeing of citizens at the centre of decision-making.
“The conferment of this honorary doctorate is not only a personal honour to His Excellency but also a proud moment for the entire Cross River State,” Hon. Dr. Undiandeye stated. “It affirms that leadership rooted in compassion, integrity, and service to humanity will always attract national and academic recognition.”
