The Executive Chairman of Obudu Local Government Area, Hon. (Amb.) Peter Akonfe Undiandeye, KSM, has congratulated the Bishop of Ogoja Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Donatus Edet Akpan, on the occasion of his 40th anniversary of priestly ordination, describing his life and ministry as a beacon of faith, humility, and selfless service to God and humanity.
Hon. Undiandeye, in a goodwill message, joined thousands of faithful, priests, and dignitaries who gathered at St. Benedict Cathedral, Ogoja, to celebrate the Ruby and Golden Jubilee anniversaries of Bishop Akpan and other priests, including Rev. Fr. Dr. Peter Obele Abue, Rev. Fr. Paschal Igbaji, Rev. Fr. Chris Owan, and Rev. Fr. Anthony Bassey.
The Obudu Council Chairman commended Bishop Akpan for his decades of unwavering dedication to the spiritual growth and moral upliftment of the people, noting that his ministry has continued to inspire hope, peace, and unity across the Diocese and beyond.
“Bishop Akpan has, over the years, exemplified true pastoral leadership — nurturing faith, promoting education, and contributing immensely to community development through the mission of the Church. His priesthood remains a living testimony of divine grace and service,” Undiandeye stated.
On behalf of the Council Chairmen from Northern Cross River State, Hon. Undiandeye announced a ₦2 million donation in support of the ongoing construction of the new St. Benedict Cathedral, Ogoja, reaffirming their collective commitment to partnering with the Church in fostering moral growth and community development.
The Chairman further congratulated the other celebrants for their steadfastness and commitment to the Gospel, praying that God continues to strengthen and reward them for their labour in His vineyard.
He also lauded the Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, for his generous donation of ₦120 million towards the Cathedral project and his pledge of a brand-new car to Rev. Fr. Peter Obele Abue, describing the gesture as “a mark of deep respect for faith and spiritual service.”
Hon. Undiandeye prayed for Bishop Akpan and all the jubilarians, asking God to continue to bless them with wisdom, good health, and divine grace to sustain their mission of evangelism and service to humanity.
