The Executive Chairman of Obudu Local Government Council, Hon. Dr. Peter Akonfe Undiandeye, KSM, has presented a N13.78 billion 2026 Budget to the Obudu Legislative Council, describing it as a people-oriented fiscal plan aimed at accelerating development and improving service delivery.
Presenting the estimates on December 31, 2025, at the Obudu Legislative Council Chamber, Hon. Undiandeye said the budget, tagged “Budget of Inclusive Growth,” was developed through extensive stakeholder consultations and designed to consolidate the council’s 2025 achievements, which he noted were inherited by his administration but later revised in October 2025 to address critical gaps.
Reviewing the 2025 fiscal year, the Chairman acknowledged revenue shortfalls that resulted in a budget deficit but assured that concrete measures were being implemented to strengthen internally generated revenue.
He highlighted key interventions recorded in the outgoing fiscal year, including progress in infrastructure, education, agriculture, healthcare, youth empowerment, and community development across all ten wards. Key achievements include road and bridge construction, solar-powered boreholes, mini-buses for transport, distribution of school materials, fertilizer support for farmers, healthcare improvements, medical outreaches, and cultural events such as the Obudu Solemn Assembly and New Yam Festival.
A breakdown of the estimates shows that the economic sector-covering agriculture, works and infrastructure, commerce, finance, culture, and tourism, will receive N5.45 billion, representing 39.56 percent of the budget. The social sector, which includes education, health, youth development, environment, water, sanitation, and support for vulnerable groups, has an allocation of N3.94 billion, or 20.6 percent, while general administration, including the legislature, is allocated N4.39 billion, representing 31.84 percent of the total budget.
Hon. Undiandeye assured lawmakers and residents that the administration would remain focused on grassroots development, noting that the budget was carefully crafted to address the specific needs of all wards through people-oriented policies and strategic investments. He called for cooperation and speedy passage of the budget, stressing that its implementation aligns with Governor Bassey Otu’s People First agenda and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Receiving the budget, the Leader of the Obudu Legislative Council, Hon. Sam Ashibi Eneji, commended the Chairman for his commitment to human capital and infrastructural development and praised the harmonious working relationship between the Executive and Legislative arms. He assured the council’s support and timely passage of the budget after legislative scrutiny.
In a vote of thanks, the councillor representing Angiaba/Begiaka Ward, Hon. Lawrence Ishibi, appreciated the Chairman for following due process and assured that the legislators would ensure the prompt passage of the budget into law.
