ODEY JOINS EDUCATION STAKEHOLDERS IN ABUJA TO UNVEIL DIGITAL NATIONAL EDU. MGT. INFO. SYSTEM

The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Professor Stephen Odey, on Wednesday joined fellow education commissioners from across the country, Executive Chairmen of State Universal Basic Education Boards (SUBEBs), State Statisticians-General, and other key stakeholders for the official unveiling of the Digitalised National Education Management Information System (DNEMIS).

The landmark event also featured the inauguration of the State DNEMIS Coordination Teams.
Held at the Ladi Kwali Hall of the Abuja Continental Hotel, the event marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s ongoing drive to modernize education data management and foster evidence-based planning across the sector.

The unveiling ceremony was led by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, alongside the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad. Both Ministers emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance the quality, accessibility, and reliability of education data nationwide.

Speaking at the event, stakeholders described DNEMIS as a transformative reform initiative.

The platform is designed to streamline school-level data collection, guarantee the availability of accurate and timely information, strengthen sector accountability, and drive informed policy formulation across all states of the federation.

The newly inaugurated State DNEMIS Coordination Teams are expected to spearhead the effective rollout of the initiative at the sub-national level, fostering collaboration among relevant education agencies and ensuring a unified approach to data management.

Senator Professor Stephen Odey’s active participation underscores the Cross River State Government’s commitment to embracing digital innovations that enhance educational planning, monitoring, and service delivery. This aligns seamlessly with Governor Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu’s vision to transform the state's education sector through data-driven policies and effective governance.
