Officer of the Surveyor General Launches Digital Transformation of Survey Workflows in Cross River State

In a bold move to modernise land administration and improve service delivery, the Cross River State Government, through the Office of the Surveyor General (OSG), has officially launched the Surveyor’s Platform, a digital solution designed to simplify and streamline survey lodgement processes across the state.

The unveiling, which took place on July 15, 2025, marks a major milestone in the state’s broader commitment to digital governance and transparent public service. The platform was developed in collaboration with indigenous tech firm, Nugi Technologies Nigeria Ltd, as part of ongoing reforms to make land services faster, smarter, and more citizen-friendly.

The Surveyor’s Platform is a user-centric solution that eliminates the need for manual file handling and walk-in submissions. It offers licensed surveyors and clients a secure, end-to-end system for initiating, submitting, and tracking survey lodgements online, with real-time updates at every stage.

The Office of the Surveyor General is responsible for onboarding licensed surveyors. Each professional is issued a secure login and temporary password. Upon their first login, surveyors are prompted to create a personal password to access their dashboard, which provides a full overview of submitted, pending, and approved lodgements.

Step-by-Step Lodgement Workflow

  • Wallet Funding & Payment Integration
Every lodgement attracts a stipulated fee. Surveyors can fund their platform wallets using integrated payment gateways, with support for bulk payments. Upon confirmation, their wallets are updated instantly.
  • Request Lodgement
Surveyors initiate the process by entering the client’s Tax Identification Number (TIN), which automatically fetches the client's details.
  • Create Lodgement & Upload Coordinates
After filling in the necessary details, surveyors upload all relevant documents including coordinate data in Excel or CSV format.
  • Submit Lodgement
Once submitted, the platform generates a unique tracking ID. An automated email is also sent to notify the client.

Real-Time Tracking for Surveyors and Clients

The platform offers real-time visibility into every stage of the lodgement and approval process. Both surveyors and clients (via their dedicated dashboards) can view updates, respond to queries, and receive status notifications significantly reducing delays caused by follow-ups and office visits.

While addressing stakeholders, the Surveyor General of Cross River State, Surv. Patrick Edet, described the platform as a much-needed shift from outdated systems to a more responsive and transparent process. He encouraged all practicing surveyors to adopt the platform fully to ease their workflows, ensure faster delivery, and support the creation of a state database and cadastre for effective mapping and planning.

Surv. Edet called on all practicing surveyors to fully embrace the new platform as the standard channel for all lodgement activities in the state going forward.

The event also featured a Q & A session where surveyors and other stakeholders provided feedback and raised important questions regarding usage, system capabilities, and future upgrades. The development team addressed each concern, with a firm commitment to continuous improvement and stakeholder inclusion.

Key Benefits of the Surveyor’s Platform

✅ Faster processing and shorter turnaround times
✅ Secure digital records with audit trails
✅ Integrated, flexible payment options
✅ Transparent, trackable workflows for surveyors and clients alike

The Surveyor’s Platform is a reflection of the Cross River State Government’s determination to build a digitally enabled public service that meets modern-day expectations. With a modular and scalable design, the platform lays the foundation for broader integration with geospatial tools and future land titling initiatives.

Feedback from stakeholders was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the platform’s potential to reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, cut costs, and build trust in government processes.

As the state continues to lead in digital reform, the Office of the Surveyor General, supported by local technology partners, remains committed to providing smarter, faster, and more transparent services for all.
