The Neighbor2Neighbor 4 Sweet Prince, Cross River State, a political organisation, has commended Governor Bassey Edet Otu for the restoration of Cross River State’s status as an oil-producing state, describing the development as a historic milestone with significant economic implications for the people of the state.
The group, in a commendation signed by its Director-General, Hon. Bobby Effiom Ekpenyong, PhD, FNACSP, said the achievement transcended political considerations, describing it as a landmark development capable of opening a new chapter in Cross River’s economic history.
“We commend and congratulate Your Excellency and your administration on the historic achievement of restoring Cross River State’s rightful status as an oil-producing state,” the group stated, stressing that the development was of “immense economic significance” to the people of the state.
According to the group, Governor Otu’s determination to pursue the state’s legitimate interests despite the complexities and challenges involved demonstrated a rare quality of leadership driven not only by present demands but by a commitment to securing “a more prosperous and sustainable future for generations yet unborn.”
It said the Governor had demonstrated that true leadership required the courage to pursue what was right even when the path was difficult and uncertain, adding that his efforts to advance Cross River’s interests had reaffirmed the state’s place in Nigeria’s resource and economic landscape.
The group described the achievement as “a testament to your tenacity, strategic vision, political sagacity tempered by humility, and unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of the people,” noting that Otu had shown an understanding that the state’s resources and opportunities must be harnessed for the advancement, empowerment and prosperity of its citizens.
It further observed that the restoration of Cross River’s oil-producing status could unlock new opportunities for revenue generation, employment, infrastructure development, investment and sustainable economic growth, describing it as “one of the defining milestones” of the Otu administration.
The group said history would remember the Governor for standing firmly in defence of Cross River State at a critical moment and remaining resolute in pursuing its legitimate interests.
“Your perseverance has demonstrated that when purposeful leadership is matched with determination, strategic engagement and a clear sense of vision and mission, seemingly difficult objectives can be transformed into historic realities,” it stated.
While congratulating Governor Otu, the group expressed optimism that the development would usher in a new era of economic transformation, urging that the state’s oil-producing status be leveraged to promote inclusive development, youth empowerment, increased investment, improved infrastructure and job creation.
“May this landmark accomplishment mark the beginning of an even greater era of economic transformation and prosperity for Cross River State. May the state’s oil-producing status serve as a catalyst for inclusive development, youth empowerment, increased investment, improved infrastructure, job creation and a stronger economic future for every Cross Riverian,” it said.
The group described the Governor’s achievement as more than the pursuit of an economic status, saying it represented the pursuit of a lasting legacy for Cross River State.
“Your Excellency, you have not merely pursued an economic status for Cross River State; you have pursued a legacy,” Ekpenyong stated, adding that the development had given the people “renewed confidence, renewed hope and renewed reason to believe in the immense possibilities of their state.”
The group concluded by saluting Governor Otu for his courage, persistence, strategic leadership and patriotic service to Cross River State, expressing the hope that the achievement would be recorded “in bold letters” as one of the defining milestones of his administration and a turning point in the economic history of the state.
