The Chairman of the Cross River State House of Assembly Service Commission, Ntufam Hon. Victor Okon, has inspected the newly allocated offices of the Commission at the Nigerian Chronicle Complex, Barracks Road, Calabar, as part of efforts to provide a better working environment for staff and enhance productivity.
Okon, who led members of the Commission on the inspection visit, said the exercise was aimed at assessing what was required to fix, partition and furnish the office space before staff are moved in to commence operations.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu for approving the office space for the Commission, noting that a properly equipped and functional office would create a more conducive environment for staff to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
According to him, when fully partitioned and furnished, the new office would enhance staff performance and provide the Commission with an appropriate environment for carrying out its statutory functions.
Okon also thanked the General Manager of the Nigerian Chronicle Corporation, Mrs Kewu Edet, for accepting the Commission and making the facility available, describing the gesture as an important support to the Commission.
Receiving the delegation, Edet said the present Commission, under the leadership of Ntufam Okon, had the capacity to make a significant difference, adding that the visit was an indication that the Commission would soon put the facility to effective use.
She expressed happiness over the opportunity to host the Commission and assured the team of the Corporation’s cooperation.
Also speaking, the Commissioner One and Head of Administration, Hon. Leonard Anyogo, Esq., said the Commission was satisfied with the location of the offices, stressing that necessary adjustments could be made with ease without disrupting the master plan of the complex.
Anyogo added that the office space offered a comfortable ambience that would support staff in carrying out their duties.
The inspection featured a tour of the allocated office spaces, during which the Commission assessed the facilities and considered the adjustments, partitioning and furnishing required to make the premises fully functional.
Other members of the inspection team included Hon. Charles Kutman, Chief Administrative Officer; Mr Owai Omini; and the Information Officer, Dr Iloke Egbe.
