Security agencies in Cross River State have pledged to strengthen intelligence sharing and deepen joint operations to tackle crime and safeguard lives and property across the State.
The commitment was made during a strategic meeting between the Cross River State Commissioner of Police, CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, and the Commander of the 13 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Calabar, Brigadier General P. O. Alimikhena, at the 13 Brigade Headquarters in Calabar on Wednesday.
Speaking after the meeting, CP Ordue said collaboration between the Police and the Army had become more critical in the collective effort to enhance operational synergy between the two agencies.
The Commissioner emphasized that stronger inter-agency collaboration remains essential for proactive and intelligence-led policing, particularly in addressing pressing challenges such as violent crime, cultism, communal clashes and arms proliferation.
"The complexity of emerging security threats demands a unified front," CP Ordue stated. "Our partnership with the Nigerian Army is vital to ensuring that we stay ahead of criminal elements and maintain peace and order across Cross River State."
In his response, the Commander, 13 Brigade, Brigadier General Alimikhena described the Nigeria Police Force as a long-standing strategic partner in maintaining peace and security.
He expressed the Brigade’s readiness to further strengthen the existing cordial relationship and operational partnership between the two forces.
"The Nigerian Army remains committed to working hand-in-hand with the Police to guarantee the safety of all citizens," Brigadier General Alimikhena affirmed.
The high-level engagement focused on strengthening intelligence sharing, coordinating joint operations, and enhancing responses to emerging security threats across the State.
Both commanders reaffirmed their commitment to sustained inter-agency synergy, stressing that collaborative efforts are critical to protecting lives and property in Cross River.
